Save Bushfield Camp is a collaboration of residents and community organisations dedicated to preventing the current plans for the site from coming to fruition.

Buy Back Bushfield is focused on the longer-term future of Bushfield Camp. They've established a Community Interest Company and nominated Bushfield Camp to become an Asset of Community Value (ACV). If approved, this status will provide added protection from development and grant the right to bid for the land if it becomes available for sale. They are also planning to submit a community-led planning application that benefits both nature and our community and provides a viable alternative to the proposed business park. You can sign up for updates from their campaign here. They are also asking for ideas for the future of the site here.   Save Bushfield Camp are very supportive of the work being done by Buy Back Bushfield. We consider the two campaigns to be complimentary, the success of Save Bushfield Camp will pave the way for Buy Back Bushfield. Currently, we are focused on the destructive planning application and inappropriate local plan allocation, whereas Buy Back Bushfield are looking towards the future, attempting to shift perspectives on what Bushfield Camp could become.

Brownfields can be havens for wildlife, supporting some of the UK’s most threatened species, while often being the last ‘wild space’ in urban areas for local communities. The value of brownfields is slowly being recognised with two of the top five most biodiverse sites in the UK being brownfields.  However, despite a greater understanding of the important of brownfields, they continue to be prioritised for development threatening the future of some of our most special wildlife.  Read more here.
